Custom Longarming

Love to make quilts? Tired of wrestling to finish them on a regular sewing machine? Cran's Creations can take care of your longarming needs. Whether you want a simple edge to edge pattern or an intricate custom design, we look forward to making your beautiful piecing shine.

All longarming is free motion, no computer automation. This means that your work will be handcrafted with care. We currently have a usable area of 96" in width. However, some designs can be accomplished on king sized quilts as well. Reach out to us with questions for quilts larger than 92" wide. 

Trimming and thread are included at no additional charge. I use high-quality cotton thread to longarm the quilt. I will match my thread choice to the lightest color on the quilt unless you request a specific color. Machine binding and piecing the backing (if needed) are available as add-on purchases. 

Longarm Pricing:

• $0.025 per square inch for simple complexity and/or low density designs (e.g.: loopy meander, large stipple)
• $0.05 per square inch for medium complexity and/or medium difficulty designs (e.g.: sashing is different from blocks, meander or stipple is small)
• $0.075+ per square inch for high complexity and/or high density designs (e.g.: fully custom block work, ruler work)

Binding Pricing:

• $0.10 per linear inch to machine stitch binding to front of quilt
• $0.25 per linear inch to machine stitch binding to both sides of quilt
• $0.50 per linear inch to make the binding (if needed)

Other Pricing:

• Piecing the backing is $10 per seam 
• Batting will be billed at cost if customer does not provide batting.
• Ironing of top or backing (if needed) $20 each

When mailing a quilt for longarming, please carefully press and neatly fold your quilt top and backing. I understand that wrinkles and creases do occur during shipping, but an ironing fee will apply for excessive wrinkles. Also neatly fold your batting. Ensure that your batting and backing measure at least 8" larger than your quilt top (e.g.: a 60"x80" needs at least 68"x88" backing and batting). If you are providing binding or fabric for binding, ensure that it is at least 12" longer than your total linear inches of quilt edge.

My minimum charge is $50. Please keep this in mind if requesting longarming services for smaller items such as table runners and wall hangings.

A $50 (baby quilt and smaller) or $100 (throw quilt and larger) deposit is due at time of order with the remainder due upon completion of the quilt.
